Let's Get Real About Student Loans

It’s time to talk about those two words everyone dreads: Student loans.

No matter how many loans you may have or the size of each one, student loans can be a sore spot for many people - especially those who work in education. The truth is, there are many options out there to make student loans a little less scary. And we are here to help you find what solutions work best for you, your student loan goals, and your lifestyle.

One way to lessen the strain of student loan debt is through student loan forgiveness. While this option can be incredibly helpful, it can also be difficult to navigate. With several different forgiveness options, all specific to your profession and payment plan as well as other factors, it can help to have a guide alongside you to provide some clearer guidance.

Some general qualifications for student loan forgiveness include working for a non-profit or government organization, using an income-driven repayment plan, and having paid at least 120 payments towards your outstanding debt. If you meet any of these criteria, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) may be a good option for you.

With that said, PSLF, while the most common form of loan forgiveness, is not the only option out there. Loan forgiveness specific to educators can also come in the form of Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) programs, and other forgiveness can be specific to the type of loan someone has taken out.

Now, I’ve thrown a lot of information at you! Here’s the big takeaway: Student loan forgiveness is within reach for many; it just requires the right advice and guidance to find the plan for you. And that, of course, is where we step in. Set up an appointment with a member of my team, today!
