Five Reasons We're Grateful to Live in Southern Minnesota

There is nothing quite like living in Southern Minnesota...

It’s truly the “best of both worlds” - living in proximity to the Twin Cities, but also having a small-town, community feel.

In this season of thankfulness, it is important to understand the reasons living in Southern Minnesota is something to really be grateful for, all year round. Take a look at these five reasons why we appreciate where we live - and feel free to respond with what you’d add to the list!

Reason #1: It’s a great place to raise a family

With three busy kiddos, I can’t imagine raising our family anywhere else. There are a plethora of amazing public school options, as well as secondary education colleges and universities right in our own backyard.

With entertainment options galore, there is always something to do with the family, too!

Reason #2: Proximity to the Twin Cities

Just off of Highway 69, we have the luxury of heading into the Twin Cities anytime we’d like. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul offer an assortment of nightlife options such as theater, music, restaurants, and clubs.

With museums, art, aquariums, and countless educational tours, there is something for everyone, at any age. The Mall of America is at our doorstep, and with highway access in all directions, it is not hard to travel. We even have a regional airport.

Let’s not forget the sports teams, too! We have Vikings football, Twins baseball, Wild hockey … not to mention the assortment of college-level play year-round.

From our hometown, this is all just a short drive away. It is one of the many reasons Southern Minnesota is such a great place to live and work.

Reason #3: Still a Small-Town Feel

While the world is truly at your fingertips in southern Minnesota, the alternative benefit of our area is the small-town feel. Despite having access to major metropolitan attractions, residents of Mankato and the surrounding towns are grateful for the peace and quiet.

Our area allows us to really know our community, interact with its members, and have that “small-town feeling.” It is a safe and family-oriented space - like something out of a Hallmark movie!

We have quiet streets, close neighborhoods, and a tight-knit community you just don’t find everywhere.

Reason #4: Ah, The Great Outdoors

With an abundance of trails, parks, and recreational spaces, there is never a season worth missing in Southern Minnesota. We are blessed to have winter, spring, summer, and fall outdoor activities ranging from biking and hiking to swimming and skiing.

There is always plenty of opportunity to exercise the mind and body with all our area has to offer.

Families can enjoy parks like Sibley Park, which boasts a miniature farm with alpacas, goats, and peacocks. Erlandson Park features walking trails, exciting playgrounds, and sports fields. Bluff Park has gorgeous walking trails, ideal for our four-legged friends, too. What’s your favorite park!?

Reason #5: Our Amazing Neighbors

With so much to love about Southern Minnesota, it is no wonder we have such a happy, friendly, and close-knit community. It would be hard to imagine serving clients as wonderful as ours in any other place in the world.

The best part of our region is the people.

We are truly blessed to call Southern Minnesota our home, and appreciate all of our friends, family, and neighbors that help to make it such a wonderful place to live!
